About The Doorpost

Why it exists

The name comes from Deuteronomy 6:9: "Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates." A doorpost is where the words went, somewhere you pass every day on your way out. The Doorpost puts a verse in that place on a phone: before the feeds open, a verse gets written.

It is deliberately narrow. It does not show Scripture, run reading plans or track streaks, because each of those turns the app into one more thing on the screen asking for attention. The Bible does the reading; the app only makes sure it happens first.

What it will never do

Collect data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and the app makes no network requests beyond the App Store. The Bible text used to check your verse (the Berean Standard Bible and the King James Version, both public domain) is bundled inside the app. Turn on Airplane Mode and it works exactly the same. iOS never tells the app which apps you chose; it only holds tokens the operating system alone can read.

Nag. There are no streaks to protect, no badges, no notifications and no leaderboards. Days are counted as a record, not a score.

How it pays for itself

Plainly. The app is free to download and free to use for the core lock: writing a verse to open your day, in every translation it carries. The full version adds unlimited blocked apps, whole categories, websites and a custom daily reset time for $2.99 a month with a 7-day trial, $19.99 a year, or $19.99 once for lifetime access. No subscription is ever required, and there is nothing else for sale.

Who makes it

Joseph Tung designs and builds The Doorpost and answers its support email himself. He also makes Stepr, a step-league app where the last one walking wins, and Eggy, a speech-coaching app, all under Agape & Co. Every page on this site is written by him, and the facts on it (prices, permissions, what the app does with data) are kept in line with the App Store listing.
